Lost & Found

LOST & FOUND

REMEMBER: if you have found a dog or cat you must keep possession of it for 14 days while attempting to find their owner before you can either keep or rehome the animal. If you cannot keep it for 14 days, your best option is to have animal control pick it up.

If you have found a cat or dog, please know that we are not able to take in any strays until after 14 days & attempts have been made to locate their owner. We have also provided some useful information on this page to help you.

Steps to take when you have found a cat or dog:

  • Check to see if the animal has a tag with contact information. If so, contact the owner.
  • Call the local animal control to file a found cat/dog report.
  • Take the animal to a local veterinarian or shelter to have it scanned for a microchip.
  • Contact local veterinarians and ask if they take found animal reports.
  • Take several clear photos (& video, if possible) of the animal that show the size & coloring.
  • Post these photos/videos on lost & found pages. There are many websites and groups on social media specifically for posting lost and found animals. Browse local lost & found Facebook groups. Some great sites to check & report to include Nextdoor, PawBoost, HomeAgain, PetFBI, FindingRover, and The Center for Lost Pets.
  • Talk to your neighbors!
  • Print some simple found cat/dog signs with a big, clear picture of the animal and post at intersections, local vet offices & businesses (with permission). Remember to take them down when the situation has been resolved.
  • If you can’t keep the cat or dog at your house, don’t hesitate to call Animal Control and have the animal picked up. The local shelter is the first place most people will look and is much safer than letting the animal loose.

Kittens and puppies and Floofs, oh My! We had a great day at the Forest Farmers Market today!Riley, Elvis, Turbo and Chaos got lots of pets and play time! They should sleep well tonight! The kittens: Autumn, June and Winter did great too, but did not like when big dogs came by to say hello! Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the heat! And thank you to our neighbors at the market who were patient while the puppies got their barks out at the beginning. If you’re interested in meeting any of these adorable puppies, and kittens the first step is always filling out an application. Find out more about them on our website and start the application process today.www.cvrrescue.org/adoptable-animals/#rescuedog #RescueDogLove #adoptdontshop #cvrrescue #adoptionsaveslives #farmersmarket #shoplocally ...
