🇺🇸There were many hero’s that day 25 years ago. And some of them had 4 legs. 🐾🐕‍🦺🐾Did you know, as days went by, the rescue teams would have to plant live bodies for the cadaver dogs to find, because they were getting depressed not finding anyone alive? As we reflect on this anniversary, we are forever grateful for all those first responders and the ever faithful dogs that did their job too. Congratulations to these 3 dogs being honored today. #neverforget #911 #doghero ...

When I was little I would go around and jump fences and fill up water bowls and play with neighborhood dogs. I preferred dogs over people. I loved caring for others (still do). I knew a family according to their dog ("that's Buddy's house" etc). I understood animals more than people. I had a hamster in 4th grade that would stay in my tshirt pocket as I rode my bike and climbed trees. Animals gave unconditional love and I could love them with all my heart. I can't even begin to name all the dogs who have broke my heart by leaving my care or this earth... but I can still name all the cats and kittens- though it takes a bit of time. I think these two will forever be my "You were mine from day one" babies. This summer was BRUTAL. More sleepless nights than even 2023 (I thought that summer broke me, but 2026 definitely gave me a beating!) So much death... but as I try to teach others, we can't forget about those positives. These little survivors and the other ones who made it. Don't let death overshadow life. Through all the tube feeds, sub q fluids, vitamins, IVs, medications, countless syringe and bottle feeds, special food, and almost no sleep... I would do it all again 1,000 times over to be sure these two had their chance at forever. Today they left me and I broke a little (a lot)... but I remind myself they had 2 brothers that never had that chance... so today I celebrate their adoption- together- to the best family who I know will continue to give them all the love and care they need and deserve. So proud of you my sweet babies! You made it! ❤️🧡-Krista ...
